The Tattoo

“Bad food is made without pride, by cooks who have no pride, and no love. Bad food is made by chefs who are indifferent, or who are trying to be everything to everybody, who are trying to please everyone. Bad food is fake food. Food that shows fear and lack of confidence in people’s ability to discern or to make decisions about their lives.”

The Tattoo

The origins of the patch came from a tattoo on Christopher’s left forearm. The tattoo was done by “Oak Morgan” aka Erin Gallagher, a local Sacramento tattoo artist affiliated with the Lucky Lotus Tattoo (www.luckylotustattoo.co).  It was his first tattoo and he was apprehensive in telling Mom & Dad. From his own words in a text he sent to Mom & Dad:

“Hope you guys aren’t upset. I put a lot of thought into it and it fits my life in this industry! Mirepoix is the French term and is a mixture of 50% onion, 25% carrots and 25% celery and is the base for many stocks, sauces, soups, etc.

The patch will eventually become the logo for the Christopher Addison Robert Gonzales Foundation.

The design leverages hook and stitch much like velcro. The black backing can be sewn onto your favorite garment. This allows you the ability to remove the patch when washing.

The initial patches will go to the crew(s) that worked with Christopher to wear on their chef coats and then to those who make donations to the Foundation.
